Developer Billing
OpenRouter Setup
How Developer Billing users create, fund, and connect an OpenRouter account.
Create and fund the account
- Create or sign in to an OpenRouter account before switching a workspace to Developer Billing.
- Add enough OpenRouter credits for model usage. OpenRouter API keys cover model costs through the OpenRouter account.
- Create a dedicated API key for this app instead of reusing a personal development key.
- Set a conservative key credit limit when OpenRouter offers one; that limits blast radius if the key is copied by mistake.
Save it in the app
- Paste the OpenRouter API key into Settings > Provider Keys > OpenRouter.
- Save the key and wait for the verification status to refresh.
- If verification fails, confirm the key was copied completely, the key is not disabled, and the OpenRouter account has usable credits.
OpenRouter provider keys are different
- This app's Developer Billing plan means you connect provider accounts to Topic to Video.
- OpenRouter also has its own provider-key feature for adding upstream model-provider keys inside OpenRouter.
- Most users of this app only need an OpenRouter API key plus OpenRouter credits, not upstream provider keys inside OpenRouter.
Security
- Never put the key in a script, email, screenshot, shared doc, chat message, or support ticket.
- If the key is exposed, delete it in OpenRouter and create a replacement key before saving the new value in the app.
Used for
- Research, scripts, reviews, chat, image prompts, scene images, and thumbnails depending on the project path.
